In July 2013, two of BBC Media Action’s mHealth services – Mobile Academy and Mobile Kunji – were recognized as empowering, innovative initiatives during the mBillionth Mobile South Asia Conference. They won the ‘mBillionth Award‘ in the Mobile Empowerment for Women and Children category.
According to the mBillionth conference organisers, the mBillionth awards have been “instituted to explore and encourage the potential of the mobile and telecom sector in South Asia. They recognize excellence in mobile communications across South Asia and honour innovations that empower the lives of people through digital media.”
Mobile Academy and Mobile Kunji also received a ‘Vodafone Mobile for Good Award‘ in July 2013. According to the Vodafone Foundation, “the award is given to leading NGOs that have used technology to create new opportunities for mobile users across India”.
