In May 2015, Mobile Kunji and Mobile Academy won the a GSMA Global Mobile Award 2015 in the ‘Best Mobile Product or Service for Women in Emerging Markets category.
In order to win the award, which recognises excellence and achievement across the mobile industry, BBC Media Action competed against industry leaders Vodafone and Telenor.
The judges said that the mHealth initiatives made “great use of low price technology to deliver education and training, with strong partnership buy-in”.
According to our research findings, an overwhelming 98 per cent of Community Health Workers said that completing Mobile Academy has given them more confidence in their abilities.
To date, service users have listened to 30 million minutes of health messages through Mobile Kunji and Mobile Academy.
